TOURISM IN CHINA - IN CHENGDU A PREVIEW OF THE TRAVEL TRADE MARKET, THE NEW ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP APPOINTMENT

Today and tomorrow business forum for buyers and companies, prior to the September 2018 edition of the new B2B expo dedicated to the world tourism industry
.Chengdu - Rimini, 12 September 2017 . The tourism world is preparing for a new international trade fair on the Italy-China axis. On 12th and 13th September, at Chengdu Travel Trade Market Business Forum 2017, a preview will be held of Travel Trade Market (TTM), the B2B expo dedicated to the world tourism industry which will debut from 14 to 16 September 2018 in the new expo centre of the Chinese metropolis and will be organized by Italian Exhibition Group SpA, founded by the merger of Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza, along with two Chinese partners.
The announcement to the press today at Chengdu of TTM 2018 and Travel Trade Market Business Forum 2017 . an event organized by IEG, Vision Fair China and VNU Asia . was made by Emanuele Guido, IEG´s Business Strategy Director, Paolo Audino, IEG international business director, and the Chinese Authorities.
During the meeting there was also a presentation of the next edition of TTG Incontri (12-14 October 2017), the international B2B exhibition on tourism organized by IEG in Rimini, the most important in Italy and one of the top in Europe, to highlight the system project deployed by the Italian expo company in the tourism sector, involving a strategic country like China by means of TTM.
Travel Trade Market is the result of a collaboration which began last November between IEG and Vision Fair China, Chengdu´s major expo organizer, realized in partnership with the CTA China Tourism Academy, the national body responsible for tourism research and promotion, directly under the China National Tourism Administration. Following the agreement, an exchange of data, expo information and training aimed at the Italy-China tourism market also began.
Today and tomorrow Travel Trade Market Business Forum 2017 will host a series of events and workshops, with approximately 1,000 business meetings in which 60 international buyers from over 17 Countries and several companies from the tourism sector are participating: national tourist agencies in China, travel agencies, airline and tourism service companies, companies from the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Event) sector and hotels. A promotional event in prior to the first edition of TTM in 2018 to raise awareness about the new expo´s potential.
Travel Trade Market promises to be a great marketplace for the companies and institutions involved in tourist flow to and from China, under the banner of rapidly growing business in the travel industry and to meet the need of the sector´s international companies to find an expo of world calibre in the world´s most vast market.
The expo will involve trade members and companies along the entire product chain: tourist transport, by plane and cruise liners, bus operating, equipment for the hotel industry and outdoor, technology for applications in tourism, etc. The territorial focus of Travel Trade Market will be the entire Asian continent. At the expo, the TTM NEXT area will be dedicated to the most innovative phenomena as far as contents, technology and services are concerned, with reports by Chinese start-ups concentrated on the tourism business.
IEG Business Strategy Director Emanuele Guido stated: ´TTM is a very ambitious project, by means of which IEG proves that it is a player with an acknowledged international profile, exporting to a vast market such as China, the gateway to other destinations with a high potential, and 40 years of know-how and experience in the tourism sector. The cooperation with the Chinese institutional and entrepreneurial players is giving excellent results, starting from this edition zero. TTM has all the potential for becoming a new strategic marketplace in Asia for the entire international tourism product chain, with the twin function of supporting the growing incoming and outgoing tourist traffic to and from this continental area.´
Tourism: the Chinese market
According to World Tourism Organization figures, 2016 was another year of strong growth for the number of Chinese tourists who went abroad, a total of 135 million, with an increase of 6%. Spending on international tourist destinations by Chinese travellers reached 261 billion dollars, an increase of 12%. The growth of outgoing travel from China involved many destinations in Asia and in the Pacific, in particular Japan, South Korea and Thailand, but also long-distance destinations, such as the United States and Europe. As far as relations with Italy are concerned, in 2015 approximately 1.4 million Chinese tourists visited the country (source: China Tourism Academy). These data strengthen China´s position as the top country for tourism abroad, a record it has held since 2012, in the context of a constant growth trend since 2004.
The city of Chengdu
Chengdu, with its 15 million inhabitants, is a metropolis located in south west China, and is the chief city of the province of Sichuan (90 million inhabitants). As well as being on of the most populous cities, Chengdu is one of the country´s most important economic hubs, a nerve centre for China´s transport and communications systems. The area is a driving force for the economy, not only for its entrepreneurial dynamism, but also thanks to the presence of important universities and its position, a natural platform for travel to and from Europe. Also a doorway for access to south-east Asia and crossroads of financial and economic business. According to the WTO, Chengdu has enormous potential and is destined to be one of the world´s most visited cities.
Presenting the 54th edition of TTG Incontri, Paolo Audino, IEG´s international business director, emphasized: ´Our presence in China is important not only for the new TTM project, but also to give a greater international boost to TTG Incontri. In fact, the great Asian country is one of the major destinations represented in Rimini and the collaboration with the Chinese institutions will enable to strengthen the Italy-China tourism market. In general, among the new features of the next edition of TTG Incontri there is an increase in the number of buyers - 1,500 compared to the 1,000 of 2016, many of whom are specialized in foreign products´.

TTG Incontri 2017
Italian Exhibition Group´s TTG Incontri is the most important B2B expo in Italy and one of the very top in Europe dedicated to the tourism industry. Following last year´s record, with almost 70,000 attendees, at the 2017 edition over 130 destinations will be represented, distributed over 3 thematic areas Global Village, The World and Italy, and over 1,500 buyers are expected from Europe, North America and Asia. New features include the debut of the Specialist Area for small and medium sized tour operators specialized in the sale of ´a la carte´ vacations. The expo will be held simultaneously with SIA GUEST (the hospitality exhibition that is holding its 66th edition) and the 35th SUN (international exhibition dedicated to beach, campsite and outdoor furniture and products).
